Cornbread with a Twist

Cornbread is a classic addition to any traditional large meal. Sometimes, it’s fun to mix things up a little bit! This recipe can help inspire you to make your cornbread particularly unique at your next big meal.

To the liquid Ingredients, add one of these:

oz can of diced green chili peppers, drained

cups fresh or frozen kernel or canned creamed corn

½

cups diced sun-dried tomatoes

½

cups diced ham or crisp bacon

To the dry ingredients, add one of these

tbsp chili powder

¾

tsp ground cinnamon

¼

tsp each of nutmeg, ginger, (especially good when adding nuts)

After the batter is complete, add one of these

½

cups sunflower seeds

1

cups raisins

½

cups coarsely chopped walnuts or almonds

¾

cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation

  1. To give cornbread a special taste the next time you make it, follow the recipe on any cornmeal package then give it a twist with one or combination of the ingredients above!
